In Flags of our Fathers by James Bradley, it tells the story of the men who fought for our country on Iwo Jima and the ones who were honored even though they didnt think they deserved it. The theme of the book shows the importance of comradery in a war and how fighting for the life of the man next to you is a very powerful motavtitor. This theme is present in every war, when you sleep next to the men u fight with yu form storng bonds. The point of this book is to more accuratly tell the story of what happened to the six flag raisers and the men they fought with on Iwo Jima.

Giving your life to save another is one of the highest honors for a person to recieve. The men this book talks about how they knew that there would be a time in the near future when it will be them or the guy next to him. Doc bradley is one example where on D day he was tending to his own leg when he saw other marines in need of medical help. He istanatly went over to help the other marine, help him engouh so that he could walk back to the medical tent under his own power. This example shows the theme because Doc Bradley did not worry about him self first but went to help others when they needed his help.
