The civil rights act of 1964, banned the segregation of people based on race, religion, gender, ethnicity in public places. It made it illegal to discriminate when hiring people based on his or her skin color, race, religion and national origin. This act also said that schools have to desegregate. This law also gave women voting rights and equal opportunities in the work place.
Th civil rights act of 1964 is still an important law. It has made it so that every one is treated equally. With out this act we wouldn't be having the first african american become president. We wouldn't have a women be speaker of the house. This country would be a very violent one if this didn't happen. this act has helped the untied states become more united.
